hypothyroidism or hyperthyroid

I was diagnosed with a hypothyroid a month ago but I only took the synthroid a few days. The reason i quit is because I was losing weight in huge amounts over a short period of time (239-148), severe nonstop migraines and a family history of hyperthyroid.  I lose at least 7 lbs a week no lie. I eat twice as much as I use to. When the dr told me I had hypo I looked it up on the internet and everything pointed to it causing obesity. I tried talking to my Dr about it and she tells me my levels were low so I'm hypo and that the medicine will speed up my metabolism making me lose even more. I lost 12lbs the one week I took the med. I realize I was overweight but that was due to seroquel. I want to lose weight but not at the risk of my health. Every month I have to shop for a new wardrobe because I'm turning into nothing. I've been tested for everything including all types of cancer gland disorders everything negative. Now a new symptom has started. I love sweets with my coffee and the other day I went to eat my favorite ( a honey bun) and it made me sick. I'm not preg. I've got 3 grown children a divorce and I'm gay so aint happening. I crave things like hot cherry peppers, olives, and pickeles. I know I'm confusing things but I'm confused. Friends and family are now asking me whats wrong with me. I'm getting scared. I have medicaid live in a small town and have no idea what kind of dr I need to go to.

Im sorry. I must have mistyped. i'm not experiencing a weight gain but a severe weight loss. I've lost 100lbs so far. I lost 12 just last week. The dr won't even entertain retesting. I had to quit taking the synthroid because it was making me lose faster. I know I'm dehydrated because my lips and mouth are very dry and you can pinch the skin on top of my hand and it stays. For some reason I've cut my fluid intake in half. This naseau thing started 3 weeks ago and I can't seem to tolerate it. I even told the dr my sister has grave's disease. She dismissed me with a your levels are low the end. I don't understand how I can be hypo when im wasting away to nothing.

Hi, I am no expert whatsoever, but you could ask the Dr. to run another blood test to confirm the first one's results if you need reassurance. Craving the salty stuff can be a sign that you are not taking in enough water/fluids. The weight gain you have experienced is likely to be a combo of that med and your hypo, so by getting your thyroid corrected, you will be very fortunate to get to your ideal weight and be much better able to maintain that with continued thyroid med. I have been hypo for years, but still struggle with easily putting on weight. Good luck.
