I've been trying to research needs for lens replacement, (general cataract-style
surgery) because my near vision is bad (far is not too bad), and my left (or lazy eye) prescription is much worse than my right. I take a long time to 'focus in'
on moving things. Recently, with the adding of old age reading glasses for near work, this complicated my vision even further and it interferes with my ability to
see well enough to get a job. Anything moving indoors is hard to 'focus in' on,
I can feel each eye straining differently to come together to produce an image.(It's wierd, and gets my bad eye very sore and gives headaches.) I've had this condition since childhood (lazy eye) but it's not interrupted my daily
life until recent years. I cannot pull together images quickly enough to
survive on any job. No glasses help the focusing, tried all prescriptions, and
tried a contact in weak eye, nothing there either. My doc suggested basic
cataract-style surgery to replace the lens with a prescription that more matches the other eye. My eye health is great, except for the differences in
lens prescription but it's disrupting my life to the point which I cannot hold a
job, and cannot qualify for disability either. I am afraid of anything that will
further hurt my vision, I only have one life. (I'm 49) but I need to generate an
income to pay bills! (I was told I was between a rock and a hard place!)
Why do things always turn out that way? Is this my best option?
