serious

I had a sinus attack where I had a little cough little runny nose ear clog. After takin robitussin and t cleared it up I still have a clog feeling in my left ear. Then I noticed my lymph node on my neck on the left side was a bit swell. I took amoxicillin and it seemed to go down but now its swell again. I feel a little bump behind my left ear which was there from the beginning. Is this serious? Or maybe a stronger dosage of amoxicillin?

Thanks. I will go back and have them look at my ear and examine my neck. She looked in my ear and didn't see anything and quickly prescribed amoxicillin. I think she might have missed something or just gave me a low dosage prescription. But thanks for responding

You should go and see your doctor so that he can examine your ear and neck.

I would not recommend taking antibiotics without the doctor prescribing them to you.

If your problem is caused by a virus infection, no antibiotic will get rid of it.
Antibiotics only work on bacterial infections (well most of them, because we know that some bacteria are resistant to antibiotics).

The clog feeling in your ear may be due to the swollen gland or eustation tube being blocked by congestion, or your ear may have a build up of wax.  When the doctor examines the ear by looking inside, he will be able to see if you still have an infection or whether there is wax build up.  If it is wax, he may arrange for you to have the blocked ear syringed.

You can do steam inhalations to help unblock your sinuses and also nasal sprays to decongest the tubes.

Best wishes

You might ask your doctor for a broad-spectrum antibiotic, also known as a 'z-pack': this usually takes care of nearly everything in just a few days.  Feel better soon - Blu
