Hi guys so I have a question I recently went to the doctors to get an hiv antibody blood test, not sure which one exactly, after a possible exposure which was 94 days from when I got the test. So I wait 2 weeks then return to the doctors office to get the results, which were negative but the doctor told me that the window period is 6 months and that the negative result I received is virtually meaning less because it is still to early to tell if I was infected or not. Is this true or is the doctor wrong? I was with the impression that a 3 month test is conclusive and 6 months is only for people who have undergone chemo or are ever day drug users. Can somebody help clear this up for me?
