3 months post exposure and seeking test

Hi there!
Thanks for the wonderful job you guys are doing to help people in need.

I had a sextual encounter exactly 3 months ago. though the act was protected penetrative vaginal intercourse but the condom was sliped. I did experience some sorts of unexplained symptoms (irritated throat, runny nose, mild abdominal pain, body weakness and etc) during the course of last three months. I have understood that the symptoms are not indicative of infection and for peace of mind I have to test. Since I am in India now, I would like to make the test here but I am not Indian citezen. So I would appreciate if some one in addition to kindly assessing my situation, could also tell me what test should I do at three months mark and what is the Indian government law for foreigners?

I mean do you know if India deports foreigners who test positive?

Or does India report the result to the government of the patient?

I am asking these questions becuase I am coming from a very conservative country.  Thanks

Thank you for all your assessment.

I know you have repeatedly given the answer for this and I know that symptoms are not good indication of an infection, but can I have your view on my presistent white tongue (without any blisters or patches), just white, as if I have painted it? and inside my mouth looks purplish with two swollen lines at two side. Does it sound like oral thrush?

I have read that thrush is a later stage symptom, not ARS. would you please confirm me that?

thanks

Thanks Teak for assessing my risk and easing my mind.

Thanks Tesu for your info. So you think the government needs it as a record and don't deport the patient, right?

Thanks  worriedman1254 for your info too. Since u r from India, I believe that your government doesn't disclose the indenty of the patient and that they don't deprot such patients, right? Can you also give me the name of a good lab in New Delhi?

Appreciate all your efforts

Your symptoms have nothing to do with ARS nor did you have a risk of contracting HIV. If you are feeling unwell see your doctor. It has nothing to do with HIV.

The reason why they report positive result to ministry of health is just for statistic reason.

Hope so LIZZIE LOU.

What do you think of my symptoms? I have had them for almost 3 months by now.

From what I have read, I understood that though symptoms are non specific, if they occure, they come after 2-3 weeks and will last from a couple of days to 2 weeks.

But I have had them one week after the exposure and have lasted for more than 11 weeks now. Can ARS be so chronic?

And I think you have read my above posts, so don't you recommand me to take a test?

Thanks for your assistance

your condom came off on withdrawal...meaning your penis slipped out and was never exposed.

Sorry if I am mistaken, my point is condom stayed in the vagina. I noticed it when pulling out.

My concern is that there might be a minor contact with vagina without protection. Especially after experiencing some symptoms (though I don't judge my risk based on them), I feel it is good to test at least.

Mild abdomenal pain (with loose stool), excessive sneezing, occasional coughing, general joint pains here and there and while tongue with purplish line inside my mouth, some times throw me into HIV anxiety and force me for testing.

I would appreciate your idea teak on my symptoms and tesing in India

So you didn't hold onto the condom when you withdrew?

No it stayed in the vagina. I don't think I came in contact with her vaginal fluid but I can never be sure. So that is why I am considering to take a test in India as it is much better than my country labs and it is safer for me to do it here, on condition that India doesn't deport and inform my country if (which I don't think will) my result is positive?

Thanks

Was the condom on the head of your penis when you were finished?

Thanks for your quick respose.

You are right, God willing, I am sure 100% that I have not contracted this at all as I think the condom only came out at the pull back time. I e-mailed a lab in new delhi, they didn't give me a stright answer for my questions. they said the result will be confidential even for foreigners but they report the positive cases to the Ministry of Health (not sure which one, the Indian or the one in patient's country, or both). they said I have to phone them to get detailed answer for my questions. This is scaring me that they probably deport such patients, and if that is the case, it would be very difficult to protect my confedintiality as I am accomapied in this trip with some of my friends.

Again, as you said I should not worry about this at all coz the odds are in my favor. but in worset case sanario, I should know about all these. So, it will be a huge help for me if someone knowledgeable about the Indian government rule on this, knows about it.

I thank you in advance

Before you worry about things such as deportation (and I am NOT aware of India doing this, in fact patients in India with HIV are treated for it... they would not be deported) you need to test to see if there is even any reason to worry about this. Plus, you said you wore a condom and that it broke, so that means the majority of your sex WAS protected. This further lowers your chance of having contracted anything. Your chances of having gotten HIV from a single unprotected encounter is less than 1 in 1,000. And that's IF your partner happened to have HIV. The odds are very much in your favor. Go and get a simple rapid HIV test done. You will get the results in 20 minutes. I wish you the best of luck! Do not worry about such things as you are until you have tested!

FYI: it came out almost at the end of the encounter. appreciate your idea on that.

And can you or some one else answers my other questions about foreigners taking HIV test in India??

Thanks

What do you mean by the condom was "slipped?" Did it break, or had it just slid down your penis a little bit?
