ARS symptoms

Hi everyone, I recently had an incident which involved quite a bit of beer and unprotected sex. The woman who I was having it with is of unknown HIV status but I am almost positive she is negative. The thing is I have had a swollen red throat with these weird red bumps on the back of my throat, and some swollen lymph nodes in my neck. I went to the doctor and she told me I was a little run down which was probably causing it, however I have had my throat like this for almost a month now, at least over 3 weeks. The nodes in my neck used to be sore, however now the swelling has gone down and they dont really hurt any more. However my throat is still swollen and red, and I am getting very nervous. I had a test at 7 and 1/2 weeks which was neg, im not sure which is was, they just took a vial of my blood. Please help.

thank you very much, your reply is very encouraging. I've heard the statistics at around 7 weeks are as high as 90-95%, would this be true? Also would the development of this swollen throat and nodes at around 7 1/2 weeks be related to ARS? Is it considered lymphomia if i have a sore swollen lymph node in my thigh/groin, and enlarged lymph nodes in neck? I know HIV cant be diagnosed through symptoms, but anything you can say to make me feel better would be great. I know it was a stupid mistake, and i've been regretting it for almost 10 weeks. What is the earliest time that i could obtain a conclusive result, i know people keep saying 3 months, but how many days would that be?

as you know...having unprotected sex gives you the potential to contract not only hiv, but other stds as well.

your test at 7 1/2 weeks is a very good indication of your status and is unlikely to change...but follow up at 3 months for a conclusive result.
