Until such time the window period changes and becomes shorter we have to follow the guidelines that say 3 months post-exposure as conclusive.I wouldn,t except a negative result at 7 weeks as conclusive because it human nature to want to receive a 100% conclusive result and clear the mind of any doubts. Some people won,t even accept 3 months as being conclusive and want to test out to 6 months which is obsurd.
Yah,
I can already imagine him saying get me a robot and not doctors! Since in many cases, following protcols and not judgements is viewed by many as the right thing to do.
Well if you already know, then you must know aswell that the information that the healthcare worker gave you is wrong. No one that knows anything about hiv would advise you not to test out to 3 months post-exposure.What would happen if you turned positive at 10 weeks or 11.What would your healthcare worker-professional tell you then?
I already know about the official window. Just want to find out if its common for healthcare professionals to say otherwise.
Often than not these ,guidelines are for defensive medication, just to be sure the doc is right on his judgement.
The official, conclusive hiv window period is 3 months post-exposure and has been since 2004.
