HIV Symptoms and Tests

had an unprotected vaginal sex 60 days ago with a China prostitute.  I had symptoms like one lymph gland on my neck right now (not sure when it started; 10mm in size), flu in the first few days after the encounter, pimples on face, neck and eyes area about 2 weeks ago & just got a pimple like bump in under my armpit today.  In addition, I stopped smoking around 2 weeks ago.  I got tested with rapid blood test (3rd generation) in Hong Kong on day 40 & 49 and tested with OraQuick on day 35 & 56 and they all came back negative.  I am feeling extremely worried and guilty for what I have done and seeking for your medical advices.  Please help.

How likely am i be infected with HIV?
Would these symptoms be signs of HIV or other infections?  Or would it be anything to do with quit smoking?
Do I require further testing to confirm?  If so, is the rapid blood test or the Oraquick more accurate?

Thanks for all your help Teak.

To everyone else, with my Chlamydia infection I have got symptoms very similar to ARS, and now I am confirmed that I am negative with HIV.  ARS can also be very similar to other viral and bacterial infections.  Go get tested for all STD's and you may found that you are just overwhelming yourself with your emotions.  I have been through the same situation and now I am taking med for Chlamydia infection, which most of the symptoms are going away after 3 days.  Get yourself tested for the good of yourself and your partner.  I wish everyone to be come up with negative results and God bless all of you.

I have done a full set of STD test @ about 100 days and found out that i am infected with Chlamydia and I am quite sure that I got Chlamydia infection from the same incident.  Will that affect the window period for HIV test?

Dear all,

I just had another rapid blood test on my 88 days for HIV antibody and it came back negative, so I can at least know that I am clean from HIV.

However, I am having rash on the side of my neck, cankersore on my tongue, whitish tongue and sore throat.  I wonder if they are symptoms of other possible STD's.  Please kindly advise.

Thanks for everyone that helped me through my window period and God bless everyone that are going through the same situation.

I am at my ninth week coming close to my tenth week now and I just found 2 black dots on the left side of my tongue.  Is it anything related to HIV symptoms?

Please kindly help since I am getting overwhelmed with my anxiety.

1- you had unprotected sex with a person from the high risk group so the risk is there
2-symptoms dont diagnose hiv
3-yes you need further testing at 3 months post exposure to be certain..
however your 8 week test is a VERY good indication of your status..
Dr HHH in the expert forum says that he has never seen anyone who tests negative at 6-8 weeks go on to test positive later..so the odds are on your side
both the tests you mentioned are equally good

Yes you need further testing. You haven't received a conclusive result yet.
