HIV test conclusivity

Hi all,

I am 28hr old male from India. I had some queries regarding test conclusitivity and my risks.

RIsks:
I had sex with 20-25 sex workers in India last 1.5 year.
All condom protected vaginal sex. No oral sex and little kissing.
My last exposure with sex exposure is 04-July-2011.

Does my below points might impact HIV tests??
a) I had been given lot of antibiotics by doctor after 3days of exposure.
Given Doxycycline for 1week, Cefixime for 3 days, Azithromycin 1g for 3days, Metronizadole for a day.. All heavy, I had numerous side effects like side effects, headache, etc. So I stopped seeing doctor.
b) The same doctor gave me Benzathime pencilin after 3 days of last sex exposure on each buttocks. Got very bad muscle pain.
c) I had HSV-1(cold sores) outbreak in lips, so took FAMCICLOVIR 250mg for 5days. This is 1 week before last exposure.

HIV Tests:
I had
"HIV 1&2 antibodies"  and
"HIV-1 PCR DNA qualitative"
93 days(3months) after last sexual exposure and 100days from taking Famciclovir. The result is negative for both.

Recently just today:
I got my Hepatitis c test results today which took 123days(4 months) from last sexual exposure.
Results are:
HCV RNA PCR qualitative(20UI/ML) - Not detected
HCV IGG antibodies - Non reactive
HCV IGM antibodies - Borderline. Refernce range >1. My result is 1.120. Lab confirmed that the result is performed twice. Even they got another sample from me. I am in hell shock.

Only thing kept me going is Medhelp. So I waited for all these tests as discussed in forums many times.

My questions are:
1) Does heavy antibiotic and antiviral(FAMCICLOVIR only) affect HIV test result?
2) Does benzathime pencilin affect HIV test result?
3) Does HCV above result HCV IGM low positive affect HIV 3 months test?
4) Should I need do more HIV tests? How long should I wait after this 3 month test. I have been told in lab that antibody test is 4th gen test.

My biggest fear apart from HCV result I got today is "Can HCV low positive have effect on delayed seroconversion and produce false negative". I am become deaf and dump after hearing about HCV. I have read in internet HCV can have impact on HIV test.Is that true?

Please advise on this. I have visited two doctors and still no proper treatment/counselling I am getting.

Sorry if my english is bad

Regards,
M

Not only did you not have an exposure, but HCV/HIV co-infection will NOT delay sero-conversion and as a result will not have an affect on your test.

You need to put this into perspective, you did not have an exposure, you were not at risk, and you certainly don't need testing.

Hope this helps.

I understand your reply.

But considering the test results of mine with all antibiotics, hep c and antiviral(for HSV-1) I have gone through, can I still take this is a conclusive negative result in a rarest chances, isn't it?

Thanks for that..

My worry is having all those heavy antibiotics, FAMCICLOVIR(antiviral for HSV-1) and then weak positive HCV put me in doubt.

I am constantly thinking HCV and HIV. HCV creating delayed seroconversion for HIV.. I read this in internet.

If those medicines would have impacted and got weak positive for HCV and I was thinking about HIV got false negative.

HIV test taken 3 months after and HCV 4 months after from risky exposures of going to sex workers..

I am actually taking psychiatry help for going to sex worker.. I have decided to stop all these.. But still not confident with my HIV results..

Any advise on that please even if I need to repeat the test..

You have not stated any potential risk of infection here, or if you have it's a little vague

You had stated that all of your acts with sex workers have been protected?  If this is the case, you are not a risk from HIV - and even so you have tested negative for HIV after the recommended 3 months.

I would take your result as conclusive.

Hope this helps
