exposure risk

Hi,

I'm a forty year old male wthat has had seven encounters with high end transsexual sex workers. Have always used a condom and the ts were unable to come so no exchange of body fluids. After last encounter in March of 07 had a flu like episode, swollen lymph node under my chin, fever, chills but that occurred in August 07. Since then periodically had a swollen node upper throat area and on the opposite side under the jaw area. On occasion I have had tender somewhat inflamed areas on my breasts and ribs. Recently had a tingling and sensitivity in lower abdominal area and a sore developed and cleared up after several days but I had alot of sun exposure there, sunburn. Within the last few weeks had what appeared to be gallbladder attack. Cat scans and HIDA scan came back normal. Frequency of tenderness in rib cage area has increased as well as tenderness in right clavicle area. The doc is going to run more tests. My questions are: Are these normal HIV related conditions, and can lymph nodes be infected with HIV but not large in size and can they wax and wane?

Thanks

I can't tell from your post if you were bottoming or performing oral sex, but if you are fairly certain the condoms remained intact after each act of sex you were at no significant risk.

The flu-like symptoms you were experiencing were definitely not caused by HIV, as they came on way too late to be ARS.

In the future, you can improve your chances of not catching HIV even more by asking the sex worker's HIV status before getting involved with them, and walk out on those who are positive or seem evasive. Please do so particularly if you routinely bottom as remember that condom breaks/mishaps do occur despite efforts to be safe.

If you always use a condom during intercourse (anal or vaginal), you are not at risk for HIV.  You can, however, get other STDs if you engage in oral sex.
