Im confused about the hiv tests...

Hello. I had many sex partners in the past 7 years, never was tested. I got tested in april of this year and it was negative. It was a rapid test for the record. Well, on sept. 16th of last month I was at a strip club and recieved unprotected oral from a dancer. I told my Doctor of it yesterday and he said it was a low risk and wanted to test my blood and then test again in 6 months. So i had blood drawn. However, after i was done there, i raced down to the health department cause i didnt want to wait a week to find out the results and got tested there with a rapid test. Well, that was negative. However, im worried of how the blood test will turn out. Now i know either way, i was tested too soon and 3 months is accurate but should i expect the blood test to be negative since the rapid test was? Is one more accurate than the other? I hear confilicting stuff about oral. Some say its no risk, but my dr said its a small but real risk.. Im lost here??

Update, as i said, on monday i got my negative result from the rapid test, and today i called my Dr's office and was told the result was negative! Jealclaude, u were so right! I am convinced that rapid tests work just as good as the Elisa blood tests of which i had both. I do agree that oral isnt really a risk, how could it be anyway?? So anyway, it was just 30 days after having that oral sex and my results negative but, my dr said he wants to test me again in 6 months... When that time comes, what can i tell my Dr? I dont want to test again because im convinced im negative and i didnt have a risk.. But, could he force me to test anyway?

* Anyone who continues to post excessively, questioning a conclusive negative result or no-risk situation, will be subject to action by MedHelp. Conclusive negative results or a no-risk situation will be based up the criteria MedHelp’s doctors. Action will be taken as follows:
    * After excessive posting, a warning will be issued by MedHelp
    * Continuing to post regarding the negative result / no risk situation will result in a 3 day suspension
    * Continuing to post upon your return will result in a permanent ban.

Very funny all. Listen, my dr was the one that wanted me to test, it wasnt my idea. He said its still a real risk. Heres what im worried about, i did have a negative test result  back in april, no sexual contact up till in sept, when i recieved oral that time.;  Now at my Dr's office, they drew blood, and afterward, i raced down to the health department and got a rapid test, that one was negative. Im worried though, i find out the results of the blood draw on monday that test will be positive because i've only gotten rapid tests which dosent have alot of blood and maybe those tests didnt catch on enough antibodies.. While the actual blood test, it'll be more blood and im worried the'll find anti bodies this time.....

well...isnt that strange.  on july 18th, this was your reply to someone on the anxiety forum.

"Seek out the help of a mental help proffessional.  Hiv isnt spread by oral sex. You didn't need to test to begin with unless u've had unprotected vaginal or anal sex"

Perhaps your Dr. is NOT current on HIV info. Many Dr.'s who don't have a large case load of HIV patients are not well informed on up to date protocol.Maybe your Dr. sensed your anxiety and wanted you to see a NEGATIVE. He also has a responsibility to be extremely cautious where HIV is concerned. As far as he was concerned, you really had receptive anal sex and were lying as a cover.(that is common) Per CDC 3 months is indeed CONCLUSIVE. Receptive oral sex is NOT a realistic risk of HIV, I assure you. Once a test is ordered, and blood is drawn, there's little chance of cancelling it. I absolutely expect you to continue to test NEGATIVE.

I agree. But why would my Doctor still want to test me? And then again in 6 months if im negative? He said oral sex where the male is recieving it, is a low but real risk.. Even though i already had blood drawn at the office yesterday, couldnt i call them and ask them to just cancle the whole test??

As long as your NEGATIVE result was 3 months after your last episode of unprotected vaginal/anal sex , it was CONCLUSIVE. Oral sex is NOT a real-world risk for HIV.
Rapid tests are just as sensitive and accurate at detecting HIV as traditional tests. They are both ELISA tests which use the same technology. A NEGATIVE test is CONCLUSIVE 3 months post exposure.
