Is PEP recommended?

Hello,
I had receptive anal sex with a transgender person on the weekend whilst quite drunk. When I woke on Saturday morning I thought a condom had been used for what was a brief period of sex ( seemed like less than a minute) and I don’t think there was ejaculation. However I was not sure if my memory was accurate and sought PEP treatment from an Accident and Emergency hospital department. I was provided with PEP  and began taking it however I also subsequently found the persons phone number and asked if a condom had been used and they confirmed that a condom had indeed been used.
My question is, I think I felt the condom with my hand before insertion and the other person said one had been used so is the continuation of PEP recommended?
I don’t know the sexual history of the other person but I suspect they work as a transgender escort.

I say this with kindness, how should we know if you should trust the other person? PEP, however, is not supposed to be used just for random sex but when the other person is known to have HIV. A better question for the other person is does he test and when and what were the results. But a one time unprotected anal sex exposure is LESS THAN ONE PERCENT risk. I'd not have sought pep for your exposure. We can't tell you if the guy wore a condom or not. Up to you to you to stay sober enough to be responsible, you know? So, your choice. PEP is hard to take and I'd not take it. You can ask the guy about his most recent testing and get a 4th generation test at 28 days to confirm you don't have hiv. good luck

Thanks GuitarRox,
In my initial hangover induced anxiety I was focusing on worst case scenarios. However in the cold light of day, I felt the rim of a condom with my hand. This other person confirmed one was used.
Re staying sober enough - you re 100% correct. Lesson learned for future.
