Question about HIV testing

Hello,

I'm from Argentina, please excuse me for my bad english. I'm really worried about HIV, I had a risk exposure about 4 years ago. Vaginal penetration with a CSW, my condom broke and I continued about 30 seconds unnoticed. I took PEP (3tc for 28 days) and a test at 3 months post exposure, as it was negative (the doctor said it was almost sure that I wasn't infected). I didn't worried about it and didn't take any further test at that time. Since 2 weeks ago, when I started worring so much for this issue, so I took a new test (MEIA 4° Generation) it came back as NON-REACTIVE.
1. Can I trust this negative result or should I take a new one to confirm the negative?
2. Is there any possibilities of a false negative almost 4 years after the last risk exposure?

Thank you!

"Your antibody test is a good indication that you are not positive."

I think he meant to say it is conclusive.  An HIV test is conclusive after 3 MONTHS, you're talking 4 YEARS.

You do not have HIV.

1. Can I trust this negative result or should I take a new one to confirm the negative?  Yes.  NO, you don't need more testing.

2. Is there any possibilities of a false negative almost 4 years after the last risk exposure? Absolutely not.  See my comments above.  Put this behind you once and for all.  4 years is an awfully long time to stay worried about something.

Just asking, if it was already conclusive I now have 2 conclusive negatives.

Thank you for your patience and help, I'm rather more relaxed

Why are you even worrying about a test you took that long ago?  The test you took recently proves you don't have HIV.

Thank you again! I'm getting a little more calmed.

Just one more question, can I trust that a 2 months after PEP test (taken 3/4 years ago) was a conclusive test? I think it was a quimioliminiscence, probably 3rd gen.

You're talking about 4 years!!!!  The new, 4th generations detect most new infections withini WEEKS!!!

Your fears are totally unfounded.  Fear is not fact, and the fact is, 3 MONTHS is conclusive.

Thank you both for your replies

I'm really worried of a false negative, as far I found on the internet there's only a 0,5% change of it, does it apply for 4° generation tests also? Sorry for being so insistent, but I'm really scarred

No. Your antibody test is a good indication that you are not positive. 4 years is pretty long time and any antibody test indicates you are not infected. Prosper well.
