Newbie Question: Can you get HIV from the Cashier at the Grocery store?

Hey guys,

I am a young person so I apologize if the question is dumb. I went to the grocery store and notice that the cashier was bleeding in the arm. I didn't see if his hand was bleeding or not/ When I paid I handed the bill, he grabbed the other end of the dollar bill. At no point did he touched my hand. as far as I can tell I touched the end of the bill with my two fingers. I grabbed one end of the bill and he grabbed the other. That was all my contact. . Afterwards, I left and didn't even pick my bill.

I suffer from OCD, I can get stressed out easily. But after the experience I realize I will wear nitrile gloves to protect myself.

I don't know if I should take PEP or not. I already complained at the grocery store, they are a chain, as to how they let their employees work when they have visible cuts.

The only risks for HIV in adults are:
1) Having unprotected anal or vaginal sex, or
2) sharing intravenous needles with IV drug users.

If you do not engage in any of the activities I mentioned above with someone HIV+ or whose HIV status is unknown to you, you will NEVER have to worry about getting HIV. There is no information you could add about this event that would make it a risk for HIV.

The Cashier was with his supervisor who didn't tell him anything about his visible cuts..etc.

*When I say bleeding I mean he had visible cuts, like two or three on his arm and possible on top of his hand. Blood wasn't "splattering" but he did have visible "open cuts" that he wasn't covering.
