* Anyone who continues to post excessively, questioning a conclusively negative result or no-risk situation, will be subject to action by MedHelp. Conclusively negative results or a no-risk situation will be based upon the criteria established by MedHelp’s doctors. Action will be taken as follows:
* After excessive posting, a warning will be issued by MedHelp
* Continuing to post regarding the negative result / no risk situation will result in a 3 day suspension
* Continuing to post upon your return will result in a permanent ban.

you said "A PCR test should NOT be used for early detection of HIV. Only an antibody test is approved for that job."

the question is not "approval" the question is reliability of the test. The HIV DUO has been approved just now as reported by DR HHH by the FDA for 28 days post exposure.
Does this change your 3 month window period theory?

the assays available now are much more advanced and sensitive and specific that any conclusions or hypothesis based on test results of yesteryears is ridiculous to say the least.

Really??? injected some liquid like blood????
Well....as Nick said, 3 months is conclusive. 8 weeks will be a good indication although not conclusive.

I highly doubt this happened!  - For someone that had a "REAL" risk the window period would be 3 months post exposure for a conclusive result. A PCR test should NOT be used for early detection of HIV. Only an antibody test is approved for that job.

Hope this helps

The PCR test can detect the virus after 48 hours post infection the 3 month window period is an exercise in liability protection by medical practitioners.
the false positives have drastically reduced if not eliminated.i suggest you take a pcr after 7 days if you cannot wait or take a DUO test after 7 days.p24 will also be detectable. the virus multiplies in huge quantities the pcr test can detect even 20 copies of the virus.p24 can also be detected.
the antibodies are the host response and is a variable and hence theabundantly cautious 3 month window period which has an average  period of 22 days meaning some seroconvert less than 22 days some later. I hope this helps.the point is to avoid false negatives any body who has the anxiety or fear would already be thinking that he is infected and the false positive impact would not be colossal
