Sore throat 2 weeks HIV symptom?

First of all, I appreciate any help you give.  Here is my situation...

3 weeks ago I had unprotected sex.  8-9 days later I started getting a sore throat and had a very runny nose for a couple of days.  The runny nose has gone away but the sore throat persists.  I don't believe I had a fever, but it's been over 100 degrees F lately where I live so I'm pretty much always feeling hot.

It's been almost 2 weeks now with a mostly mild sore throat.  Just yesterday I noticed red bumps on the back of my tongue so I went to the doctor.  I explained my story, but the doctor said he doesn't believe it's anything serious.  He checked me out and said there was still some mucus draining down my throat that could possibly be causing a bacterial infection and inflammation. He said the red bumps are normal in this situation, but my throat was very red.  He prescribed several medications including: an antibiotic, nasal decongestant, a mucolytic to reduce phlegm, and an anti-inflammatory.

Also, I should note that after about 1 week my throat felt better for a day or so then the soreness came back.
And the nurse that took my blood pressure and temperature before the exam said everything was normal.

I have been very worried about this.  It's always on my mind and it's affecting my daily life.
Does this sound like a symptom of HIV or any other STD?

Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the input.  I am trying not to focus on my symptoms and stay calm, but that's easier said than done.  I've been planning to go get a test in 1 week which would be a month after the incident.

I know I've posted here in part fishing for some positive reassurance.  I know it's stupid, but my anxiety is pretty intense at the moment.

Thanks again.

Symptoms are mostly confusing and misleading because HIV related ARS are similar to those, we see due to other common infections. On the other hand, many actually infected people remain totally asymptomatic, therefore do not focus your attention towards symptoms.

The only way to know our status conclusively, is a test. Get yourself tested for HIV Duo (antibody + antigen) 4th generation test after 4 weeks of exposure, collect your conclusive report and move on with your life. You had unprotected sex with someone of unknown health status, therefore your risk is there
