LIZZE LOU, KUMAR and ALL,
One final question, can any type of daily medicatoin delay antibody detection or development? I am on a daily nasal spray, and take cholesterol and High Blood pressure medication.
Hi Lizzie,
thank you....I was just concerned that my test wasn't a duo and that I have physical issues, Follow-up testing etc.,
the CURRENT guideline is 3 months post exposure for a conclusive test result.
kindly move on...you do NOT have a hiv concern. you do NOT have hiv.
no.
your test is conclusive..you must believe your test result
Thanks again Kumar.
I just wanted to clarify that I could not have develop ars at a later stage?
Could a person develop HIV symptoms (which are not ars symptoms) after 3 months but before 6 months? Meaning could I have not had ars but develop HIV in the time period after my 13 week test but before a 6 month test.
So In your your opinion by 13 week ELISA test is conclusive and no addtional testing is needed.
ars does not delay the antibody production..for your information not every person infected develop ars in the first place!!
a 3 month test is conclusive but some experts believe a negative result at 6-8 weeks might not change
late antibody development is possible in people who are
-chronic iv drug users
-on anti-rejection therapy after organ transplant
-on chemotherapy
-taken pep treatment
Hi Kumar,
Thanks for your resposne. So are you saying my test would have pick up antibodies if I had ars at anypoint? Could someone have delayed ars beyond similar to delayed antibody detection: meaning beyond 13 weeks? Or do you believe, researchers believe, docotrs believe that all antibodies will be detected by 13 weeks months and not 6 months? I guest that's what I am concerned about that I could have late ars symptoms beyond 13 weeks and late antibody development after 13 weeks. Is that possible?
some people are still conservative about the older guidelines
they would have subsided but you did not have ars because your test is negative
if you have health issues i suggest u need to see a doctor..NOT HIV RELATED
Why then do I hear that I should repeat a test at 6 months? That concerns me. Would I have ars symptoms at 20 weesk or would they have subsided? I just have some physical issues and that scares me.
1)nope elisa test was fine
2)conclusive
3)both test at 3 months post exposure is conclusive
4)no
