Unprotected sexual intercourse. Real symptoms?

Hello, I am a bisexual male. Around the first days of October I had a sexual encounter with another male in a party; we penetrated each other, but since we were rather drunk neither of us used a condom. Later some of my friends told me he had a reputation of being rather promiscuous; that’s when the worrying began.

In this last month I have experiencing weird symptoms that may be HIV related. I started developing mild headaches, and then flu like symptoms (or maybe an actual flu?); the flu came with sore throat, nasal congestion and lots of coughing. Eventually I got better, the flu lasted about a week. However three weeks latter, I still got LOTS of coughing (sometimes productive, sometimes not-productive) and sometimes a mild headache. I haven’t noticed any additional common symptoms, no fever nor rash; only some sporadic diarrhea, nothing more than a day or two like three times since the intercourse.

I took a 4th generation ELISA test, about 70 days after that night; it came back as negative. How reliable is it? Are my symptoms HIV related?

70 days negative elisa test result post exposure is pretty gud  indicator...and your test results are highly unlikely to change..but for peace of mind do repeat ur blodd test at 3 month mark....coming to symptoms..u cant diagnise hiv wid symtoms...anxiety is the key factor...forget abt ur symptoms and get tested 3months post exposure  to be extra sure...

Yes I understand that. But are my symptoms HIV related? And how reliable is a 70 days, 4th generation ELISA test?

3 months post exposure is when you can obtain your conclusive negative test result.
