Can't stop worrying - 7 weeks 6 day negative result

Hi everyone,

I know this sort of scenario has been posted a milion times but here goes.....

I had unprotected vaginal sex with a girl of unknown status. Stupid I know but beer does that to you.

I just got my 7 week 6 day from exposure results back last week and it's negative. Not sure what tests were carried out but it was at a GUM clinic in England. I'm currently at the 10 week mark.

I've been having quite a bit of knee pain and knee clicking. In fact, quite a lot of my joints have been clicking. I do have a history of very clicking joints/knees but I don't remember it being this bad. I also a had a slight sore throat and cough for  2/3 days a week after going for the test. I've also got quite bad dry/chapped lips. However the weather has turned quite cold here so I'm putting the lips down to that.

I've have to admit that while waiting for the test results I've become an internet symptom hunter and have conviced my self I have every symptom under the sun - e.g. my joints are down the reactive arthritus, lips down to weakend iummune system. I found a bruise on my buttock that I can't rember doing etc. I'm still conviced now that my throat hurts but it probably doesn't. Every blemish I find on my body I don't remember is a HIV related rash. In fact, every twinge and pain is a ARS symptom. I've going a bit crazy here. I've haven't,however, had a fever as far as I'm aware. My apetite is good and I'm sleeping quite well - no sweats etc.

I suppose my question is how confident can I be in the test result? Are  my symptoms just to non-specific/minor to be ARS? Is it to late anyway for ARS symptoms.

I know this sort of things has been asked a million times (I know, I've read them all!!!). But I just need to post about my own situtation.

Many thanks,

S.

Teak,

Thanks for you post.

What's your view on the accuracy of the 7 week 6 day result? From what I've read Dr HHH would probably say it's a fairly good result and I should probably stop worrying which of course I can't!!!

Thanks,

S
