can't believe it, really?

Six months ago I had a one-night stand with a woman from asia.  Not a sex worker.  She was small and the condom ripped.   I didn't pull out immediately.  I tested at 6 weeks with no problem.   One month ago I get the flu like I've never had it:  chills, night sweats, fever and so on.  I just retested and I am HIV positive.  I know this happened but this is such a bizarre event.    Are there statistics on one-night stands?

Ease up people, there are no shock  waves or any thing that's around to panic. This story is very vague, one can't get ARS 4 Months post exposure, there's a big disconnect here and the story certainly seems to be incomplete. Don't forget this is  an internet forum and any one can write any thing, I can make a second user - Osama Bin Laden and post around stating that i got HIV. No disrespect to the original poster, if you were diagnosed with HIV take your  questions to - HIV and living with forum.

As Lizzie indicated, you are not HIV positive until you have had a confirmatory Western blot and it is positive.

As for your symptoms, they could not have been due to Acute Retroviral Syndrome, if the one-night stand you mentioned here was your last exposure. That just isn't going to happen five months after an exposure. You very well could have had H1N1 influenza.

How many times did you make sex that night.
Was it one time or you were doing all night long?
