I've read in numerous posts that the chance of a male becoming infected with HIV after one instance of unprotected vaginal intercourse with a girl who is HIV+ is about 1 in 2,000. I recently had semi-protected sex with a girl that I did not know but met over the internet. I say semi-protected because, apparently, the condom broke during the act and now I'm scared to death. I've NEVER met with someone over the internet for sex before and its completely out of my character (my number of partners is 4 - all protected). She said she had been tested for ghoneria, syphilis, hepatitus and a few others (but not HIV/AIDS) the month before when she went to her gyno to get another prescription for birth control. She claims to have never met with someone over the internet for sex, and states her number of partners as 5. After I saw the statistic about 1 in 2000 getting infected after one encounter with an HIV+ girl, this made me feel a little bit better, but theres never any source for the statistic. Could you tell me a source (medical journal/study .. whatever). This would make me feel a lot better!!
