hiv symptom?

my buddy thinks he may have put himself at risk for an hiv infection and after about 2 weeks he has been experiencing bladder pain. After the first week he notices swollen lymph nodes and a cold with a cough. Does this sound like hiv symptoms or is it to early to tell? thanks

It might be just a cold, regularly you get swollen lymph nodes in your neck like 2-5 before symptomps appear like sneezing and a slowly progressing sore throat, after 2-3 days after symptoms appear it gets ugly with a lot of flem, painful sore throat among others.

well im not sure what exactly his risk was, i didnt think to ask about the intercourse but he is pretty worried about it. He had actually told me today that it isnt directed right to his bladder but that is is basically just lower abdominal pain in general. A few days after the contact with the suspected hiv partner, he said he noticed swollen glands and a soar throat. I told him to go to the docs but he doesnt have insurance. thanks

HIV early symptoms usually appear in first two weeks (although physicians mention up 4 weeks). Among the most common symptoms are fever (usually last ~10 days), malaise, sore throat and lymphadenopathy (usually non tender).

See this:

However presence or absence of any of these symptoms doesn't imply or rule out HIV. Also there are other STDs that can cause sometimes similar symptoms (like fever). For your friend bladder pain is likely to be due to bacterial cystitis.
