Dear  Lizzie,

I higly appriciate your advices given to people like me. It's the last thing that I want is to offend you and/or Teak.

Same thread of my case was already here in medhelp;
http://www.medhelp.org/posts/HIV-Prevention/Can-I-continue-with-my-life-after-all-these-tests-/show/953335

Yes you are right. Today I have posted my case to an another HIV forum with the same
nickname.
It really helps to me to cope with HIV anxiety by hearing "YOU ARE HIV NEGATIVE"
from different resources. (As you will se original thread of mine here in Medhelp,
I'm experiencing mental problems with getting rid of HIV Fobia.)

I have stated before, I am not the one who can criticize the Goverment's HIV Guidelines.
Whatever I have written here was my Doc's advices to my case just to help. (Although he
did not recemmend me further after having 6th week DUO and 11 week Elisa tests negative)

Regards.....

hhhuuummmmm...

before you go giving out advice to others...you might want to consider the fact that you were posting... just this morning on another forum...asking (after your comment on this post) about your own test results for a NO RISK situation.

move on ! ! !

There are NO Duo tests in the US. Period. A standard P24 test and ELISA tests are ran on two difference tests which with a Duo test they are ran together. Mass. tests are Not conclusive for a REAL exposure until 3 months. To correct you the 3 month window period was in April 2004 and is where it stands today. There are NO doctors that can change the window or testing guidelines. The guidelines are set by the Mfg of the tests and the FDA.

Dear Teak,

I appreciate your advices alot.

I'm not responding inorder to start a discussion  but rather, just for helping eachother.

I am not the one who can criticize the Goverment's HIV Guidelines for sure.
I fully respect the USA CDC Hiv Testing Guidelines as well as Mass., NYC, Australia Guidelines.

I have just written what I have learnt  and what I have been adviced by my std Prof. Dr.

Although Hiv DUO test has not been approved by FDA, one can take P24 and Antibody test seperately at the same day which will be the same accuracy with Hiv DUO test.

4th Gen Hiv Tests are conclusive after 6 week according to MAss, NYC, Australia.
I think we are passing a timezone in reduction of Window period for HIV just as we had in almost 10 years ago. Window period was 1 year, then 6 month and finaly somewhere
2003, it is 3 month. Now with all these supersensitive tests I believe that new window period will be 6 week world wide (Even some believe it is 1 month).

Lastly, If the one can not find DUO test, conclusive result can be got after 3 month mark with a standart 3rd Gen ELISA Test.

Regards....

First off, there are no DUO tests in the US and second there are no tests that will give a conclusive negative test earlier than 3 months.

Hi P24 Test,

First of all I wish you negative Hiv tests.

Best time interval for Stand Alone P24 test is in between 14th and 27th days.

I would recommend that what my doctor has recommended to me.

Take a 21st day Hiv DUO Test (Which checks both for Antibodies and Antigens
simultaneously and hence grater accuracy than 3rd gen Antibody only tests at
aerly stages of HIV infection). If it is negative you are most probably not infected.

Then take a 40-42 days Hiv DUO Test again (Be sure it is 4th gen).
If it is negative, you are conclusively negative according to US States Mass. and  Newyork. You are also conclusively negative according to Australia guidelines as well.
According to unwritten guidelines, de facto, you are also negative according to practises
in France and Turkey what I know.

But I will recommend you to take a final 3rd gen Antibody test after 60 day of exposure.
I advice you to take it really at 3 months mark in order to help  also to reduce hiv anxiety.
(I have taken a 3rd gen Elisa at 11 weeks and then at 15th week to overcome my hiv
anxiety)

P24 tests are not stand alone tests and have to be followed up with an antibody test.
