tender swollen lymph node

Hi Guys,

I hope you can help calm me down for a bit before I manage to go take a test. I haven't always been so anxious and stressed about this issue; really, it's only recently that I've started to freak out about every little thing that I think is a manifestation of hiv. I think what is most frightening to me is that all of these things are happening at once, which can't really be a coincidence.

This past month I've had an extremely sore throat, angular cheilitis, dry mouth, extremely dry peeling skin. I'm not worried that this is ARS, I'm afraid that they are symptoms of later stage hiv, since my exposure was around two and a half years ago.

I currently feel fine, but today I went to touch a spot on my neck under my right jaw, near the chin because there was a sore spot. I was horrified to find a large, tender lump there. When I strain my neck in the light I can see a visible protruding lump from the tender area. Is this something that should be worrisome?? I am really quite scared right now, and I've never had any type of swollen lymph node of this nature before. I'm trying not to play with it, mostly because it hurts, but I don't know what would cause this lump to be there.

I know I'm rambling a bit, but I'm just looking for any type of comfort or wisdom.

Like teak said, if you had a risk, you test, it's that simple.  Nothing you can report symptom wise, especially two years later, will tell you anything about your HIV status.

You can go take a rapid test and know the results in 20 minutes, so you can finally put this to bed.

Symptoms or lack of won't tell you anything about your HIV status and HIV has no specific symptoms.

I am going to, but I wanted to write in to the forum first to see if anyone could relate. I've never had a huge bulging lymph node before, and from what I research it always seems that hiv comes up as the most probable cause for one of this nature. It obviously has me worried..

Did you test? You said it happened 2 years ago.
