Father-in-lae had LifeTest Screening performed today.  Score for Agatston Calcium Score came back 8,400.  Tech strongly suggested to see a cardiologist ASAP.  Can find nothing on internet with scores this high.  Any information would be great. He is 85 yrs, white, never been to hosptial, thought was in great shape and not having any chest pain.

Either this wasn't a calcium score of the heart, or there has been some kind of misprint/misunderstanding because this would suggest that your coronary arteries are made of bone.

Wow, I've never heard of such a high Calcium Score before. Mine was/is 1217 and I saw a cardiologist right away. I didn't have Angina either. If you read the afore mentioned study, you'll find out, they never heard of it either. Their mean Calcium Score in the population for males was 312 with a distribution of between 62 and 969. I don't really know how they score this, but my LAD alone is 782 and if you assume the endpoint would be 1000 (I haven't found yet out how they score that, though), you don't have enough arteries to get to 8000.

"Although the number of cardiovascular risk factors was strongly associated with a high calcium score, 29% of the men and 15% of the women without risk factors had a high calcium score."
this is an extract from Rotterdam coronary calcium study. pl go through it.
so there is no worry if he is in good health , you just need to get his some routine cardiac work up like exercise testing and echocardiography and lipid panel.
