Explain condition in layman term...please.

My boyfriend's ECG is abnormal, showing a moderate to servere perfusion defect in the septal wall and apical inferior wall.  This reverses at rest.  What does this mean in laymen's terms and can it be fixed?

Atrial fibrillation is an irregular heart rhythm associated with disorganized electrical activity in the upper two chambers of the heart. Abnormal electrical impulses cause the atria to beat very fast and in a disorder manner. Proxysmal atrial fibrillation indicates that the arrhythmia (fast and/or irregular heartbeats) occurs at varying intervals rather than consistently or constantly.

An irregular, fast heart rate often does not give enough time for the ventricles to fill and that would be worst case scenario.  Treatment would be medication to slow the heartbeat.

With exertion when the heart's workload for an increase in blood/oxygen, there is ischemia (lack of blood flow) to the septal wall (wall separates heart chambers) and apical (top) inferior (backside) heart wall.  At rest there is no ischemia.

Ischemia is usually caused by some vessel obstruction (calcium buildup).  Treatment can be medication to relieve any chest pain; if medication does not provide relief, then a stent implant.  If the blockage is large, location inhibits, etc. then a bypass may be the treatment.
