Racing Heart in the middle of the night

My mother had experienced the racing heart rate at night for the past couple of years. These were the happiest years of her life with little to no stress.
Aside from stress what could be causing this?
As it may seem evident, she passed after by-pass surgery because of the racing heart. The medical examiner mentioned Torsads (sp?) but I cannot find any information on it.
Please, I am looking for some answers as to why I lost my mother!?????

"Torsades de pointes" is a French phrase referring to abnormal configuration on an EKG. It is a heart rhythm disorder that is extremely rapiid and as a result the heart cannot pump effectively and can cause instant death. For reference the configuration shown on an EKG strip is a long QT and a syndrome (LQTS) and is an inherited disorder of the heart’s electrical system.

Sorry for your loss!  Hope the information helps you put the matter into a perspective.  Thanks for your question and sharing.  If you have any further questions or comments, you are invited to respond.  Take care,

Ken
