High Blood pressure and chest pain

I am a 52 year old woman, I have Diabetes 1, and Gerd.  For 3 months now I have been dealing with extreme high blood pressure.  Avg. 220/123, accompanied by chest pain in my upper left size of my chest.  This pain does not move.  I have been put in the hospital 3 times within these 3 months.  I get stress tests, ultrasounds, X-rays and blood work.  All tests says I am not having a heart attack, but with my blood pressure being high it is making my left side of my heart to struggle and causing my heart walls to thicken.. That is why I am having chest pains.  My other systems are, numbing in my left arm, pain in my left jaw and some pain in my back. My doctors continue to readjust my blood pressure medicine and says this should work… It has been a week since I was released from the hospital.  The adjusting of my medicine is not working.. I have notified my doctor and another readjustment of medicine was made, it still isn't working. Does anyone have any clues of what is going on with me?

My diabetes is under control, I don't eat salt, sugar or fast food or sodas.  My diet is mainly fresh organic fruit, vegs,,  I do read food labels.  The adjustment in medicine has not help my blood pressure or chest pain, in fact the chest pain has become worse.  I did have a mild stroke 4 years old and a TIA 2 years old.  I am on a mountain high of medicine.

* Lipitor 40mg 2 tabs evening             *Hydrochlorothiazide 25mg 1 a day
* Lisnopril 20mg 1 a day                    *Mirapex .25 mg 1 at bed
* Cymbalta 60mg 1 at bed                 *Novolin 100/ml 20 units at night
* Nitroglycerin .4 mg if needed           *Glucotrol 5 g 2 x a day
* Hydralazine 100mg 3 x day             *Zantac 150mg 2 x day
* Plavix 75mg 1 a day                      *Lopid 600mg  2 x day
* Norvasc 10mg 1 a day                  *Januvia 100mg 1 a day
* Folic Acid 1 mg 1 a day                *Labetalol 20mg 1 tab twice a day

Labetalol was adjusted 2 tabs twice a day.  I believe All of this medicine is my main problem.

Thanks for your help.

I forgot to mention the importance of tight control of your diabetes, that's vital now.  I'd suggest you ask your cardiologist to work with your diabetes doc to make sure the drugs are working together.

I'm sorry you have these symptoms.  In order to offer thoughts, we would need to know what drugs you have taken to control the pressure, and what adjustments have been made.  When you mentioned the adjustment to the drugs isn't working, do you mean the chest pain is still there, or the high blood pressure is present, or both?  I've struggled with a similar problem, and diuretics have been a very important part of controlling blood pressure, chest discomfort and allowing a better quality of life.

I'd suggest listing what drugs you are taking as a followup. I'd simply throw your salt shaker away, quit eating processed/fast foods, and learn to read food labels.  Thanks for posting, I look forward to hearing your drug list.
