High pulse rate

My BP has always been good. I have just walked up a normal set of stairs and it reads 113/78, but my pulse rate was 135 and I could feel my heart thumping in my chest.
An hour later and I have just been sitting working at my computer, and my BP is now 96/74 which is quite normal for me. My pulse rate is still 93, so I feel it's still too high. I have been a bit stressed with work over the past few weeks, could this account for my high pulse rate? I am 58 years old, don't smoke or drink. My father had a heart attack in in 40's, my mother has a heart murmur and is under the heart clinic as she suffers with heart palpitations and a speeding heart rate at times. She is under medication and in fact they have just had to increase it as she ended up in hospital in A & E last week. Just lately I have had a weird almost vibration sensation under my right breast (not my heart side I know). I also keep getting a burning ache in the top of my left arm, which comes on at any time, although I have been typing on the computer for lots of hours so I didn't know whether it was caused by that. I'm also suffering with a pain in my lower right jaw, but I've just been to the dentist as I think my bite was wrong and he's drilled the tooth down. Still got the pain in my jaw but hoping it will subside now that my bite is improved. Thought I would mention all these things just in case they relate.
With regards to my pulse rate I thought I must be really unfit as I haven't done any real exercise over the past year, and I was going to start soon. Should I get myself checked out at the doctors first do you think?

A fast heart rate at rest indicates the demand for blood/oxygen is higher than normal and each heartbeat does not meet the demand so the heart rate increases and within a minute time frame the increased heart rate is equal to normal stroke volume within that time frame. And the symptoms you are experiencing is consistent with vessel blockage.

You should be evaluated by your doctor to rule out any serious heart condition that can be corrected with the proper therapy.
