I know ed is right about this....you carry this, you don't get rid of it. It lies dormant in your system. Nursing homes are rampant with it. There was a time that Dr.'s weren't supposed to admit residents to nursing homes if they were carriers. Hospitals hardly ever test any more for it because it is so rampant. There is even crossover from the animal population. I know because my daughter, a Registered Vet Tech, got it from the animal surgical center where she works.
I don't think you can ever totally be rid of it with medication. The bacteria commonly sits in the nostrils and can invade the airways too. It is resistant to many antibiotics and is becoming more difficult to treat. Anyone in the general public can have the bacteria and pass it on.
It could infect your Lungs during a bronchitis bout, in fact it does happen. You could get your Doctor to do a swab test of your nostrils to see if the bacteria is present. It can turn very nasty and cause pneumonia.
I had mrsa 6 years ago.. If your rid of it... Id seriously doubt that it comes back...At least mine never did once i took the proper antibiotic to get rid of it.. hope this is helpful..claytex
