Drastic fluctuation in blood pressure

46 year old female - family history of heart disease/kidney disease
-I have been fighting high bp for about three years, was averaging about 150/90, now on 2 bp meds, and bp is all over the map - in the a.m. (upon waking up) it is usually high, avg 160/90+, (has been 200/130 at times), but by evening can drop to as low as 110/58.  I have other health issues, and I am currently having testing done for kidney function.  Does anyone else have these wild fluctuations?  I know bp does fluctuate in healty individuals, but I really don't think this drastic of a fluctuation is normal.  Any input is appreciated.....btw, have had echo, ecg, both normal, but have had episodic sinus tachycardia

In quite a number of cases, the cause for high blood pressure is never diagnosed, and so the treatment is meds. Your bp is high when you wake up yet low by the evening. Do you take the meds in the morning?
About three years ago my bp was high in the morning, then normal at lunchtime, then crept up by about 8 or 9pm. When I took my ace inhibitor in the morning, it took until lunchtime to react, but lost its effect by about 9pm. I was on 5mg of ramapril.
The cure in my case was to reduce the dosage to 2.5mg but take it twice a day. This balanced things out a lot better. Some meds are slow release, take a long time to have effect and have a short life. Some seem to be slow release, takes a long time to have effect and have a long life. Others seem to have an immediate impact, and last for just a few hours.
Maybe its a med/dosage/timing issue?
