after stent question

Okay 2 stents put in May 26 this year. Went home with coreg, lisipronil and plavix all new. Had shortness of breath for next several days and doc took me off Coreg this past Tuesday. I still have shortness of breath most of the day (none at night while sleeping) and I have noticed an almost constant runny nose.Has anyone heard of this? Any ideas? I go back to the cardiologist on June 14th

Can you have restenosis in the stents this soon?

I did have the drippy nose with the lisinopril too, as well as it seemed to give me an ongoing scab on the inside of my nose which did not go away until I got off the meds.  I think it is a good idea to check with the doc.  Although a lot of us have experienced those symptoms, we can never really replace the advice of a doc!  I was short of breath when I had blockage before I took the lisinopril and still after I started the lisinopril after the stents were implanted.  It has been nearly 9 months since I got off that med so I don't remember all until I read about others and then think "oh yeah, I did that too!"  And I agree with flycaster that you could have restenosis in the stents.

I too am concerned that I did NOT have SOB before stents.  I have no cough.I don't know about the restinosis. The doctor I thought was thorough when I went in last week. He listened to all the major arteries, ankle femoral and neck, gave me an ekg, checked blood oxygen level, BP taken twice. I think I will call him tomorrow and let him know things aren't much better.

Sorry to hear you are still struggling.  Linisopril gave my brother the cough that Julie is referring to, I didn't get that symptom.  One thought... it's hay fever time where I live and my nose drips all day.  I have excellent air filtration in my house (electronic air cleaner teamed with UV lights in the return air system) so I don't have hay fever at night.  That being said, breathlessness with exercise remains a cardiac danger signal, it's quite possible you could have restinosis (blocked stents or arteries after having them cleared).

Hi Julie thanks for the response. Don't know how they know which one is causing the reaction when they start all 3 at once. I have no cough but SOB has not gone away. And my nose is a faucet. Could be the lisinopril. I feel fairly certain that it is not the stent itself. (Of course I am new to all of this) I was only on the Coreg for about 5 days. I am not panicked by any of it. The SOB doesn't get better or worse based on what I do.

Hi Prichy...I have had stent implants too and was taking a bunch of meds but I was only on lisinopril for short time.  It was the lisinopril that gave me those symptoms plus a bad tickle in the back of my throat that caused me to cough a lot!  I finally got off the lisinopril and I felt Waaaayyy better!  Good luck!
