low pulse rate - everything else excessive

My pulse rate drops when I work on the computer at work, or am generally very relaxed.  At an exhibition recently, I was able to check my pulse rate at the time, with a special medical exhibit.  My pulse rate was measured at 51.  I know my blood pressure is high, but not exactly what it is.  I'm also 10 stone overweight, which must be serious for my age of 62.  However, I eat healthily and the problem is insufficient exercise, although I have a rowing machine at home for occasional use.  I never get depressed - honestly, I have a working around this.  And I'm a very laid-back person who also doesn't get angry - honestly this is true too, I don't like confrontation.  Should I be unduly worried?  It seems to me that all the figures are against me, yet I don't feel I have a problem.

My Mom had it all her life and there was nothing wrong with her. What kind of tests, if any, have you had? It may just be your makeup and you are concerned over nothing and totally benign.
Do you regularly check your pulse? How many months or years have you been checking your pulse or is this new? I used to do it for years... guess what... it was all anxiety and an abnormal fear of the heart stopping or dying...

Check this out you many find some things:

No, I'm not taking medicines, but had a knee operation ten years ago.  And then I was given more pills than I'd ever had before - I'm a believer in natural methods.  However I understood the need for them - my pulse and pressure readings were constant while I was in hospital.  My pulse has always been low when I'm relaxed.  It can go down to 48 when working at the computer.  I don't get as stressed out as my colleagues, because I remain fascinated by the technology.  I don't add much salt to my food and try to make most dishes myself, so there are few preservatives as well.  I don't smoke or drink (not to excess), and used to belong to a cycle club.

Are you taking any medicine because there are few medicines which cause this problem. For how long have you been feeling it. Do you take less sodium chloride (salt) if so take little more and also take some good multivitamins
