muscle twitching

My father is 91 - is having silent heart attacks.  He is unable to talk now, and is twitching more all over - near the end.  They gave him Adavan? to relax the muscles, along with morphine under the tongue to relax the heart walls.  My question is - is the twitching due to lack of potassium or lack of oxygen?   The hospice nurse says it's just due to having 3 heart attacks in the last week - not due to lack of potassium, and my sister says it's due to lack of potassium, because that is what a doctor told her when her mother-in-law was dying and twitching.  After a heart attack, his oxygen reads 95 on finger monitor.  I happen to be out of town this week, and it is hard not being there.  I have been there for the past 400 days during other spells.    Thanks!

Hello,
My father passed away last nite at 7:30.   We will never know all the answers, but he no longer has to suffer.
Thanks for your concern.

Hello,

I hear your concerns.  I was in your place 21/2 years ago with my father whom had stage 4 prostate cancer- how this relates- he had 2 heart attacks each falling within 2 weeks of his passing.  In the final 24 hours of his life he had severe twitching too during the entire morning, afternoon and nighttime until 9:00pm when he had a final heart attack that took his precious life.  I tell you this because I am not sure what caused it either and I questioned low potassium levels, fluid overload and the amoridorone he was put on for the heart, but now hearing your very similiar situation, I think the tremors were his body shutting down from the lack of oxygen to the other organs.  I am not so sure how the 95 oxygen reading plays a role.  It would seem that would say yes the body is getting the oxygen it needs, but in reality, I beleive that is a reading more related to the lungs as my fathers oxygen level was wonderful too.

My sincere thoughts are very much with you and your dear father and hope that peace will find him and you. Take very good care and if I may suggest:  give him a call and let him hear your voice.
