palpitations and strong heartbeat

I have suffered from palpitations for years which was treated only sometimes successfully with Atenolol. Last year I also noticed that my heartbeat began to beat very strongly and surge from my chest through my ears and head. This is very disturbing. Everything disappeared after I had cardiac catheter ablation in May but after three weeks the strong, heavy heartbeat has returned (not the palpitations). They are worse than ever and I have to take Ambien to get to sleep. I am trying acupuncture, hypnotherapy, yoga but am getting no relief. I get chest pain and pain in arms but doc says all tests are ok. I have tried calcium, magnesium, hawthorn extract, CoQ10 also. I have been on paxil, lexapro, effexor, they do nothing for me. I am about to try homeopathy. Does anyone have a similar condition or have any advice for me? I am not able to get through my day and have dreadful difficulty trying to sleep - I use soothing music etc but as soon as I wake in the morning the pounding is there and lasts all day. I get no relief. I would appreciate any help/advice you can give.

My BP has always been normal and HR 60-70. I take Multivitamin and Calcium. Have always been borderline anaemic. Don't have stress issues and always try to stay calm in those situations. I'm on beta-blocker for heavy beat but it is not working. This has been going on for 6 months now. Was your BP high to begin with and do you think that is what is taking care of the heavy beats?
thanks for your interest and help.

What does your BP and HR usually run?  Do you know what bld test were done?  Are you low in calcium, mag., iron etc?  Did your Doctor tell you to take them?  What did the heart cath show?  Do you have stress issues?

I have always had a very hard heartbeat.  I am on BP med's that tame it down though.  I get the chest pains and heart palps and the pain down my arm sometimes; but, it is very rare now.  The upper questions may help others to be able to help you better.

Take care.
