Oh, one more thing...
Your lower back pain may be due to poorly trained abdominal and lower back muscles. Those two muscle groups work together. When they are undertrained or when one is trained more than the other, you'll get pain or injuries.
Ask your doctor if you're okay to do some basic abdominal and back exercises to get rid of that pain. Perhaps you can start with a physical therapist or personal trainer to get you started.
Also, losing weight will ease the stress on your body and your heart. Another good reason to look into ways to improve your diet.
Hi Stocky,
Yes, you probably should see your doctor about being tired a lot. I just wanted to comment on you mentioning that you're active three times a week playing golf. I'm wondering if you are carrying your own clubs? If not, then that would not actually count as physical activity.
The American College of Sports Medicine and the American Heart Association recommends 30 minutes of moderate physical activity on most, if not all days of the week. Any exercise that gets your heart rate up but allows you to still carry a conversation is moderate. It's vigorous once you can't talk while doing the exercise. In that case, you only need 20 minutes per day.
When you see your doctor, ask him about what kinds of activities you can do for exercise and how often you can do them.
There's a blog just for heart patients with information about maintaining a healthy diet. That's the other side of the coin for you. It's www.myheartpatientdiet.com
I'm an exercise physiologist. If you have any more exercise questions, let me know. But, don't substitute any advice you get from others for the advice of your doctor. Only he knows what you can and can't do.
Good luck!
