Anyone know what this could be?

Hi everyone,

Well, I am back to having crazy symptoms again.....seems like around this time every year I have a flair up. Well yesterday I am just sitting at the computer reading and out of the blue and all of a sudden my heart felt like it was sputtering like an old car! It did this just for a couple seconds like maybe 3 (felt like a lifetime) and I felt weak for just a split second and then all went back to normal and I have felt fine ever since. I had to talk myself out of  running to the ER because I know they would have thought I was nuts. I am going to make an appt. with a cardiologist just to reassure myself even though I have had several echo's, ECG's, and heart monitors over the years and all checks out fine with the exception of some PAC's (which I have learned to live with for the most part). I was just wondering if what I experienced yesterday could have been several of those in a row or something? It scared me really bad!  I do not any type of medicine except for Synthroid for an under active thyroid, and I stay away from caffeine. I am thinking I have felt that feeling before but, it has been a long time ago and my husband says he remembers me doing that before but, I was just curious if it could have been a run of those PAC's or PVC's or if it has a different name.

Awweee...you guys are so nice. That other analogy is a good one too! That is exactly what it is like.

I agree, it sounds like a short run of ectopics.  They definitely feel weird!!  When I have a run it feels like my heart is on a hamster wheel chasing itself.  Once the wheel stops, everything settles back down.  It feels like my heart is chasing its own beat.  Weird!
I like the car analogy!!  Perfect!

Upbeat (another member) had a great analogy for people who don't understand extra beats.  She said, it would be like living in a well-structurally house where someone keeps turning the light switch on/off.  In this case, the switch is flickering until it goes back on....kind of like a brown out.

You are not alone.  We're right along side you : )

Thank you so much for responding. Having this weird stuff is so terrible. No one really understands what you go through except for people who suffer from the same things. Although I wouldn't wish this on anyone it is reassuring to know that there are others out there that know how I feel. :)

A small "run" of PAC/PVC's is the first thing I thought of too. I get those a few times a month when I'm in a really horrid cycle, and they always send me into a panic mode even when I know what they are. I just hate how they feel. Just keep reminding yourself that little runs are just as benign as single PAC/PVC's in a normal healthy heart.

"Sputtering like an old car" is a great analogy..... made me laugh and brought back some wonderful memories about the old giant Thunderbird I had for a few months about 20 years ago!
