CardioNet monitoring Questions....

I'm a 27 year old female and have been having trouble with skipped beats and occasional palpitations. I am often short of breath but don't know if this is due to a heart issue or anxiety (anxiety does run in my family and I will admit I may have a touch of it at times). I saw a cardiologist who ran an EKG in the office which came back normal. I had a 24 hour holter monitor in August which he said came back okay. I saw him again last week because I am still getting the symptoms and wanted to get to the bottom of it once and for all. He ordered an echo and stress test which I am having done tomorrow and also a 2 week monitor from cardionet, which I just put on tonight. My question is this- how likely is it that this is stress related and what do I need to know about the monitor? are they going to call me every time something funny pops up on their end because I think it's going to scare the **** out of me if they call  me all the time to tell me that my heart is acting funny. The woman who set me up didn't mention it, but did say if I record that i passed out they will call. I'm just at my wits end with all of this and hope that all these tests come back okay and I can just sum it up that it's anxiety and get over it. Sorry for the lengthy post, would just like some input from people who have had this monitor and what the monitoring center does.

I've worn the cardionet monitor (30 days) and just like itdood there were times when I took off the device (for the whole day). I was not about to go into a meeting with clients and have the thing start making noises. However, noone ever called to scold me for taking it off. Actually they never called me for anything.

As you described anxiety as just having a touch of it, I'm thinking I have anxiety a lot worse than you, and my palps and skipped beats are much worse than yours, yet when I went on cardionet for 14 days I wasn't the least bit concerned.

It's really easy to wear.  I recroded upwards of 5,000+ PVCs per day, they never called me.   At one point I thought heck, I've definitely recorded enough data for them and I took it off for a day to get a break from wearing it and they called me to yell at me for taking it off.  That was it.   If they see some whacky stuff in the telem they will call your doctor and your doctor will call you if it's concerning.

They didn't tell me when I was setup that they'd call me if I passed out.  But that would make logical sense that someone should follow up if you record this event.

When you have an event you click the big button to start.  It will go through some quick menus to ask you what symptoms you had.

it works really well and I had no problem hiding everything under my business shirts.  I saw someone out in public in full view with the leads exposed, her shirt was rather low cut, that cracked me up.

anyways, don't stress over it.  It's easy.

Don't worry about a call - first the question is are you physically in a cell for the wireless connection?  If not the monitor center will not know what is going on until you send them data over a (provided by them) modem and your telephone line (assume you still have a wire-line phone).

Your anxiety is suggested by your worry about being called.  Be thankful that you will get a call if an answer will make the test more meaningful to your doctor, or if you need to seek immediate attention, better you get a phone call about early symptoms, rather than have to wait until they go critical.

It sounds like you're getting all the tests, this should lead to some answers.  Hope the right and all the answers.  Keep us posted.
