Vasovagel syncope

I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this question, but it is the closest one I could find.

I had a syncopal episode while on duty (I am a firefighter/paramedic). On scene my first h.r  was approx 50. Blood glucose 110.  I was kept over night at the hospital. Three 12 lead e.c.g.s and and three cardiac enzym tests, all were negative for m.i.

I was given a tilt test a week latter. I had syncopal episode during the test, and my heart "paused" for 4 seconds per the electro physioligist. He prescribed fludrocortisone, told me to drink plenty of fluids, and increase my salt intake, given a halter monitor to wear for a month, and told to come back in a month for another tilt test. I was told I could continue to exercise.

I have always eaten a fairly salty diet. And I drink approx. 40 ounces of water, and 2 12 ounce soft drinks a day. If I am doing hard work I will drink more.

I am in very good condition, I work out regurly, as my job can be very demanding physicaly.

My first question: I urinate a lot. If I try to increase my fluid intake I just seem to urinate even more. Is it possible that frequent urination is throwing my electrolyte balance off causing my heart to "stall" and thus causing my syncopal episodes?

2nd question: I know that most syncopal episodes are caused by drops in b.p. My syncopal episode per tilt test appears to be due to a pause in h.r. Is this unusual?

:-)  S'okay.  I was just confused.  Did you try posting this to one of the doctors on the forum?  I think there is a charge, but they are not quacks and they do a good job of telling you what to ask when you see your local physician.  You may want to give it a try.

Dolfnlvr, I wasn't sure which forum I had posted in before. So I guess this is a repeat.
