Hi Kevin...

My tachycardia resolved shortly after the surgery...shortly, meaning a couple of months. My electrical issues didn't surface until about 10yrs after the surgery. I have had 4 ablations since Oct 06. 3 for recurrent AV-Nodal Reentrant Tachycardia and 1 forRVOT-VT. I still have Afib and also competing junctional rhythm. I am an electrical nightmare, and definitely an EP's worst nightmare...*LOL* I can only laugh at this point, because my other option is to crawl into a hole and wither away...and that just isn't me...I am always trying to look on the bright side:)

Hello...

I have been taking levothyroxine for the past 20 yrs. I was dx at the age of 14 with severe Grave's disease and had a complete thyroidectomy at the age of 17. Before the surgery, I had very high BP and constant tachycardia. It took awhile for me to get the replacement meds to a good therepeutic level.

My Cardio and EP Dr's both wonder if my previous thyroid disease is related to my current rhythm issues. Who knows.... Best of luck to you with your next round of testing:)

Having either an increase or decrease in thyroid hormones can cause electrical disturbances in your heart. Are you hypo or hyper? Are you taking medication for this?

It appears you are concerned.  The scheduled tests should help.

I'm not sure, but I assume the "ultrasound" is the same as an "echocardiogram".  If that's the case, this test will display all the physical parameters of your heart, a very effective tool in diagnosing chamber efficiency and a valves.  I don't think it will in and of itself say much about why your heart races in the morning, but the monitor should help define that state for the doctors diagnostic work.
