Results

I got my results back and it says the following:  I am in the acute phase... I just wanted to know if anyone else could interpret these better...

HEPATITIS TESTING                        RESULT

Immune B Title \ HIB                         \HIB B

Anti HBS    \HB2                              \HE 2 + B    Not sure If I spelt this right.. it was blurry in the fax

U/L for ANTI HBS                                                       Attention:   >100

Interpret \HB2R                                 \HB2RA

Add U Markers \HMRK                      \HMRKB  Im not sure if i spelt this right. It could be ( HMRKS)

Anti HCV        \HPC?                         \HC-B

Immune Status/Previous Exposure - Hepatitis B
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Antibody to Hepatitis B Surface Antigen (HI sAb) Positive

>100 U/L

A positive test is seen after naturally acquiring acute hepatitis B infection or after vaccincation against hepatitis B.

TItres may decline below levels of antibody immunity or even become undetectable but, immunity may persist or life.  A value of 10 U/L or greater is consistent with immunity.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Then below it says Hepatitis C  > Negative

Hbsab is the antibody to hbsag. So if hbsab is positive then most likely hbsag should be negative which would mean immunity.

What is the difference between HB sAg and HB sAb?

It says you have to be negative of HB sAg to be clear of the virus.

It says on my results HB sAb Positive...

Yeah I know... The doctor called me back and I was away for school... So they faxed it over to me... That is why I am confused... He said that he wanted to talk to me about my results.  Im not sure I am suppose to see a speciailist this week.

The original doctor said she tested for immunity in the summer and said that I was Immune when she tested... So she did not test again when I saw her..

She said she was shocked she wants to see my results now... But it says Surface Anitgen HI sAb  Positive...

I'm not sure what it all means but I'm just reading the part where your antibody to the surface antigen is positive.  Looks like great news.
