I stopped caffeine because it escalated my tachycardia. Now that I have a good blood supply again, who knows. Maybe I could have a bit.
If you're on treatment, I think the only issue about caffeine is that it's a diuretic – it dries you out. So if you consume caffeine, you need to increase your water consumption to compensate.
Personally I gave up caffeine when I started TX. It does nothing for me. Wish it did. I envy the people for whom it provides a lift.
3 per day, the studies AGREE, it's GOOD for you, I call it my "mountian herbal drink", jerry
I had to giggle when you said your 'lesbian' neighbour complimented you - maybe she's 1 lesbian and .5 heterosexual? That would keep up with your other stats lol.
I have hade mouth blisters almust the whole time during tx and i always atleast since i stoped all other oralstimuli been drinking a lot of coffee,
As a mather of fact about 1.5 liter aday for over 20years.
4days ago i stoped all coffee consumtion had only terrible headache for 1.5 day.
I have been stoping before use to get maxium headache for atleast 5days, have never managed to stop for more then a couple of weeks thoug.
I have put up some goals during tx one was that my weight will go under 176ibs when i had 12 weeks left, thats 80kg and I´v already achived that, another goal is no coffee the last 12 so far so good.
I like to have some margins, in 1.5 week i will have 12weeks left on the meds.
Lots of 1.5 here LOL, drank 1.5 liter coffee headache 1.5 days and 1.5 week left until
last quarter of tx.
I`m also gonna take some supplements like lactoferrin and also probebly testoteron,
Its nice to recive goals, i havent been this thin in over 15 years and my lesbian neighbor
complemented me of how nice i looked bodyvise the other day, and it feels so good when the stomack is not there anymore.
Makes me wonder could she be one of those heteros thats need to come out of the closet LOL. ( she has been living with another girl for atleast 15 years)

I gave up coffee years ago - doh... This is what Dr D had to say about it (I may starting drinking it again - I'm a teaaholic!!)

Coffee is my tx friend. It doesn't hurt me at all, it helps me. When I went through the "nausea period" for about six weeks it wasn't my friend then .. but even then I drank the one large cup at work in the morning for the kickstart. Can't imagine doing tx without it. The doc didn't tell me to stop either, particularly when on epogen. He told me the epogen might constipate and that the coffee would help with that so don't quit if I don't want to.
I've read about the beneficial impacts of coffee on the liver and in general, actually.
Incidentally, mine is large with one cream .. no sugar. Haven't had mouth sores at all .. wonder if that's because all the coffee I drink is keeping my mouth lubricated? Or ... maybe COFFEE IS GOOD FOR MOUTH SORES!?! (Okay, tongue planted firmly in cheek there ... along with the coffee. :)
Gotta get my fix of a large, fresh, strong cuppa Starbutts everyday. And I feel fine doing so too.
Yummy-a dirty martini with 3 olives.
I mean, I drink 1 cup of coffee a day-with sugar free creamer :-)
I can't wait til I'm SVR!!!
If I don't drink coffee, I get a migraine. If I get a migraine, I turn into a bigger bi!ch. Therefore I indulge in one large cup of MickeyD's coffee on my way to work every morning. I read a post on the expert forum where Dr D told someone that coffee was okay and they should enjoy.
Now, if the solution to my migraine problem involved drinking a dirty martini every day, I would rethink my strategy, But since I'd rather not sweat the small stuff, coffee remains my daily friend.
One cup? I probably have the equivient of 4-6 shots of expresso a day. Honestly, don't know if that's good or bad but you might want read some of the studies. Couln't drink a drop of coffee on tx because of GERD. Drinking coffee reminds I'm cured and can live normal life!
It may be protective for liver cancer. Personally, I help keep Starbucks afloat.
A TIP is i find if i dilute the water based stevia with a few drops of water,it easier to work with..otherwise it just comes out in blobs
so this stuff does work on sores of the mouth...i just started using this stuff for a mouth rinse...i never had mouth sores yet...but you are proof in the pudding....and your on tx..thuis is very good news....EVERYBODY OUT THERE HEAR THIS?
Stevia rocks! I put a drop neat on my tongue several times a day. I had some mouth sores starting the other day and they were gone the day after. It's also great against sore gum. I use the water based dark liquid.
I love stevia in all my drinks, excellent for making lemonaide...no need to wait for the sugar to dissolve...water based stevia is the best kind...the alchol extract is missing the good nutrients
I am not giving up coffee... have given up so many things that I like and love to do. I have one-two cups in the morning.... take away all lifes pleasures and what is left....... depression and angry... somewhat dramatic I know but still this has not been an easy process for me emotionally... but I hanging in there and doing ok.
Peace
There's another thread where I told CockSparrow about all the bad things about coffee.
i drink about 2 - 4 cups of cappuccino a year, with sugar
i drink 2 cups a day with stivia instead of sugar.
In conclusion, there is currently no scientific evidence that drinking coffee causes problems for people with C type Hepatitis. In fact, the possibility of drinking coffee in moderation being helpful for such patients seems to be increasing.
How di we know the coffee industry is in this....just to keep us sucking back the seed...its actually a fruit seed and not a bean...and its roasted....i thought heating foods destroy the antioxdants....im dont know ..makes me wonder
Just found this...maybe i should google first.i always end up amswering my own questions...LOL
In Hepatitis C, high levels of the serum Alanine Aminotransferase can cause significant liver damage. Recent studies have shown that caffeine found in coffee is reducing the levels of this serum found in patients
