I sure do hope and pray there's no cirrhosis, another biopsy doesn't seem as bad when you look at it from that perspective I guess! Feeling better today after alot of rest and pain meds. Now I can get back to work and keep on going!
If you don't have cirrhosis, you will probably need another biopsy in 3 years. If you do have cirrhosis, you probably won't need another biopsy.
Yes I have hepc genotype 2b. I'm seeing a gastrointestinal Dr, just found out this news in January. This is my second opinion my DR just went in too low from the rt side then went up a little higher. Hurt like hell, still having discomfort but not quite as bad. Gastrointestinal Dr is 45 minutes away, general is 15. I would only go see him to do an xray to make sire she didn't puncture my lung. Praying not! But if it gets too bad I'll go to the ER. The reason we went ahead with the biopsy was a choice I made. I ask her to go ahead and do it so I can see how long I can wait for treatment. So hopefully that's the last one for a while :)
I've had 4 biospies and the first 3 were done from the back or right side. No Pain. Just followed dismissal instuctions and rested for a couple of days. The 4th biospy howeve was done in the front and the after pain hurt for weeks. If you have Hep C you need to be under the care of a hepatologist not a general practioner. Always discuss side effects...you've got to speak up for yourself or no one will know...and they can do MRI/MRE at certain stages...go to a hepa/gastro doc and if you are, talk to him, if not happy with his answers, get a second opinion.
It is called pneumothorax, and I really don't want that! I was undecided if I should go to work tomorrow, think I'll just stay home and rest. Hopefully everything will be better by then. You ladies have a Happy Valentine's evening. More pain meds for me and back to sleep!
Thank you! Yes I'm hoping for no more biopsies any time soon. It was very painful and scary too. If things don't get better by tomorrow I'll go to my regular PC and get him to do an xray to be on the safe side. Happy Valentine's Day! :)
That does sound very painful. Make sure to rest and no lifting anything heavy.
If you are still having trouble breathing, then go to the E.R. Two people in my Support Group had their lungs punctured, and they had to stay in the hospital, they described a condition, I cant quite remember the word, but it sounded like "pneumothorax" or something serious, so keep a close eye on things~
Sounds scary.
Hope you feel better tomorrow. I am thinking (rather hoping) they would not release you if you were at risk for anything dangerous.
Hopefully with the meds are progressing you will never need another liver biopsy again!!
