Dr. stopped treatment (44 of 48 weeks)

G1-a:
Initial vl: 13,500,000
4 weeks vl:  <50

I had the appt yesterday.  I took in my sticky note of things that I wanted to talk to her about.  She looked at me kinda' funny....she said, "I've never seen you with a sticky note before...that concerns me."

I told her that I still have brain fog..(.it was one of the things on the sticky note) !!.

Since I've been off work, I've been trying to eat more often...I usually eat something every couple of hours...and at the weigh in yesterday, I expected my weight to at least stay the same.  I lost another 5 pounds (down to 104 lbs)  since the last time I'd seen her, which upset me pretty badly.

Doctor said, with the excessive weight loss, (20% of my initial body weight before starting tx), still sleepless nights,  the brain fog that seems to be getting worse & only 4 weeks of tx left, she thought I should come off treatment.  She mentioned "quality of life"....I said, I have no quality of life....my life is revolving around treatment.  Everything else depends on how good I feel after treatment.

She mentioned the 80% - 80% rule...I'd never heard that before...

Plus, I was a rapid responder, increasing my odds.

So, I'm done...now comes the really scary part.

I'll keep you posted as the test results become available.

Thanks to so many of you here who have helped me to get to 44 weeks.

Regards, *peg*

Thank you so much for your support & best wishes!

Leafy One...thanks for the extra support that you've given to me.

Marsha: I'm certainly hoping that the appetite comes back soon...I've always had a fast metabolism..I'm afraid it might take longer than normal.  I have a closet full of work clothes that I can't wear because they make me look like a skeleton when I put them on..and I expect that weight will come on differently than before...but it is what it is...This will all have been worth it with SVR!

Kosh: I think most of us have been where you are..wondering if tx is the right course for you. You'll know in your heart when you can do this.  I had a rough time...my metabolism has always been fast, so I started losing weight quickly during tx. Most sides came & went away. I suffered hair loss...they tell me it will come back, too.  Brain fog, fatigue, etc. Knowing what I know now, I would have started tx.  I just can't stand the thought of something living inside my body that I don't want there...I knew it would be a bumpy ride & I had the same concerns that you do about outwardly appearance.  I can truthfully tell you that after a while, it doesn't matter what you look like...this is a battle for your health & your life.  I expected some "scars"...but in the end, I'll win!  Best of luck to you during your journey...it'll be ok...

In large parts of the world outside the US (we're conservative) geno 1 rapid responders like you do a shorter TX time.  You will be fine.  You will be most reassured by your first post TX followup PCR showing UD.  Hope you are getting the 4 wk. followup PCR so you don't have to wait too long.    Recovery from therapy is disappointingly slow after stopping the meds but it really does happen.  Now your big challenge will be patience. Congratulations on getting there!

Congratulations on finishing tx! It was a tough ride for you and I hope you start feeling better very soon. I think you will be surprised how fast the weight will come back. You might even gain more than you want to, so be careful.

Be well,

Marcia

Congratulations!!!!!!!!
And God Help u to recover
I am supossed to see my doc  on monday, already have drugs from pharmacy ready, but fear of tx is only growing, afraid that it'll be my second time of changing my mind about tx. My viral l. is close to what your was. i'm almost 35. G1-a.
Please tell me did u loose your hair, and all the side effects besides the brain fog that u experienced. Did your appearance change? Does tx make u look older?
I fear i'm gonna gain at least 10 years to my face.

Thank u very much
for response.

40 weeks at undetected is a good number.  I like the sticky note to remind yourself about brain fog.  It's like putting a string on your finger and then later wondering how it got there.
