Score 13.8... what is the stage at this score?

My father score  in fibroscan is 13.8 . Does it stage 3 or stage 4 ? Can it be recovered  through proper treatment?

For  non-invasive mapping of tissue elasticity my doc recommended MRE ( Magnetic resonance elastography ).

My Latest Fibroscan was around 27 which is up from 14.8 six months back BUT my doc said these results are 70% accurate, the gold test is MRI elastography , Magnetic Resonance Elastography (MRE) so I will get that done in the very near future.

Mu understanding is fibroscan is less accurate with lesser damage but with highte levels like mine and yours of 27 it is reasonably accurate, My fibroscan was done incase my insurance wanted something more recent than my liver biopsy from Jan 2008 showing cirrhosis to confirm the diagnosis to help me to qualify for the new meds. So my score of 27 was after I already had been diagnosed with cirrhosis 7 years prior. The gold standard is liver biopsy.

Fibroscan scores usually cannot determine cirrhosis. Most hepatologists, liver experts, check ultra-sound imaging, blood test results along with fibroscan results. For example; if someone has a fatty liver then the fibroscan score will be very high. But if the ultra-sound shows a smooth surface without holes in the liver, then it may not really be cirhosis. So, just a fibroscan high number is not enough information to really know the health of the liver.
The best thing to do is get your father proper treatment to stop the disease. Then his liver can start to recover.

sorry palviet, but this is nonsense. Fibroscans measure fat and scarring separately.  Fibroscan is specifically designed to measure Liver stiffness which is then calculated to a likely level of scarring.  Its 95% accurate at ruling in or out Cirrhosis.

Hello , this may clarify .
best wishes and warm regards .

Fibroscan .
KPA less than 7.5 would be stage 0 or stage 1.
KPA 7.5 to 9.5 would be stage 2
KPA 9.5 to 12.5 (or 14) would be stage 3

A person with chronic hepatitis C and a liver stiffness more then 14 kPa has approximately a 90% probability of having cirrhosis, while patients with liver stiffness more then 7 kPa have around an 85% probability of at least significant fibrosis
