Hepatoloigst in Virginia and VA questions

My best friends husbands Hep C has come back.  I doubt it was ever gone--long story.   Can anyone suggest a good place in Virginia--she lives in the Roanoke area, but could travel further if need be.

Also he deals with the VA hospital and is planning to treat through them.  Makes me nervous as I don't know if he will get good care there.  Anyone with any experience with them and what did you think.

My gut tells me to talk them out of tx with them and go elsewhere.  I have my work cut out for me as I need to educated these two and just pray they will listen to me.

Yes, Dr. Shiffman is at VCU. He treated a couple of my friends.

Nevermind --I was able to get the link to work.  Thank you all so much --as I will feel better if he gets away from the VA.

I just found out they want to start tx without a biopsy and said they would do one after tx.  No PCR and viral load information was done. His liver enzymes are through the roof.

The fact they would do tx without a biopsy makes me question there knowledge about Hep C.

I second Jim. Dr. Shiffman is a good hep doc although his personality is very quiet.
