My experience with recoverybwas similar to working dog's. 2 weeks, 6 weeks, 10/12 weeks, 18/20 weeks, all brought marked improvements. Drink water, keep away from sick people and high traffic areas where there may be germs, and consider having your primary care physician running some blood work, all good advice. It takes time but improvements will come each week now. Best wishes.
What are you doing for testing over the next couple weeks?
Will is right. My thyroid was hypo on my EOT test. I will get it retested in 2 months but I am on the watch for signs. I finished 2 weeks ago. You might also get your vitamin B tested. I have heard that this can cause a problem post tx.
frijole
i think you'll start feeling better in 2 weeks...thats 6 to 7 weeks post tx...then way better in 3 months post tx...and even better in 6 months post tx..........billy
You are certainly not alone in that you may have overdone it too soon after tx. I did much the same. It took a while to go through all you have, and it will take some time to be rid of it all, but you will!!
If I was healthy and rode 900 miles I would be out of it...
Try to pace youself. I can imagine that once you finished tx you wanted to get going, but try to take it easy.
It's probably good you husband has been delayed. Take the
time to relax it's going to take a little time for all the effects of tx wear off.
You'll be fine.

Your post makes me mad~ not at you, but at your doctor for not informing you of what to expect post tx.
I was told that blood levels wouldn't normalize until 4 weeks post tx.
No way I would have been up to a 900 mile road trip 3 days after EOT.
I didn't stop taking naps for at least two or three weeks afterwards.
Post tx, I had various side effects ranging from headaches, and mouth sores to some seriously painful intestinal cramping.
By week 8 I felt better but was still grumpy. Around 3 months post, I felt like I was myself again, happy and energized.
Be patient, stay active but don't overdo it, eat well and keep hydrated.
You will feel better~ in time.
Trust me the last place anyone want to be right now is an extended visit in Texas especially if you could be somewhere like MN. Virtually every area of the state hits triple-digit temps. I agree with the others in that not really enough time has lapsed for you to be feeling your old self yet. You just went through a very strenuous and physically taxing experience with these HCV meds and perhaps maybe this trip was a tad premature.
As Will suggests be sure to have your TSH checked when you have your labs done in addition to another CBC just see how your bloods are rebounding. I hope you feel better soon.
Hoping and praying SVR for you!
Make sure to get your thyroid checked if not already done .A hypothyroid which happens often on tx. can cause a myriad of symptoms..
Good luck..
Will
I think what you're feeling at one month after eot is very normal - some good days, some bad. It took about 3 weeks for my Hgb and WBC's to get back near normal and the energy level took some time too. Since you're traveling and away from the comforts of your own home, not feeling well may be enhanced by the additional stress you might be exposed to. You sound anxious to get back home with family and understandably so. After the end of the second month you should feel much better - I hope. Don't think because you're having a few rough days that you might not still be UND. It doesn't work that way. Good luck to you.
It's been my experience so far that the medicine takes it's sweet time to get out of my body. I've read it can take up to 6 months to feel better. ...maybe even a year. I didn't like hearing that at all. I had my hopes up too so I quit making big plans with people until I feel more predictably okay. It's a rollercoaster. I just try to enjoy what I can. It was such a let down for me when I didn't expect to still feel so bad....but that is some wicked treatment we just went through! They told me to drink lots of water and keep taking good care of myself. Take care!
