I recently had a UTI. I don't think it has anything to do with Hep C or treatment. It's just one of those things that people (and women especially) get a few times in their lifetime. 3 days of Cipro knocked it right out
Since there is a link between HepC and Type 2 Diabetes, you should be tested for that, if you haven't been already. That would seem more likely to contribute to recurring UTIs, not HepC...
Hi Holly. UTI's are not caused by hepatitis C virus.
It sounds as if you have progressd to cirrhosis (platelets are low) and that is why your doc wants the AFP test and imaging. Make sure your doctor adds ribavirn to the harvoni if he thinks you are cirrhotic. I treated with cirrhosis and have been clear for over 2 years. My best to you.
