What is your stage of liver damage?

You may get different opinions on this site. I can tell you that I had HVC for nearly 30 years, was treated 2x over the years, with years in between. If you show no significant signs of liver damage, waiting is unlikely to hurt you. I completed the Solivadi Ribosphere treatment with good results (HVC type3).

I don't know why most drs are wanting to play the waiting game to start tx. It would be in your best interest to start the non-interferon like harvoni ASAP.
I have found the doctors are not advocating for patients to treat immediately and this is becoming a trend. I experienced it with my doctor and finally had to make my own plans to get tx sooner rather than later. Best to you!

Hi and welcome to the forum. My experience from trials has been a growth experience. I had to be very patient and persistent with the employees and doctors who make these decisions. They all have their own inclusion/exclusion criteria. If they say you don't qualify then in a friendly way talk to them and find out ways they can re-test. You need to know from your own doctor where you stand with insulin resistance and pre-diabetic conditions you may have. Get more labs taken from your dr and find out your actual blood sugar numbers are and when they spike. Get back to them if you are in the clear and do not show extremely high blood sugars. I found many times that just talking to someone else regarding exclusions was always a good idea. Many times I found I was border-line to what they would not allow was dependent on how positive and pro-active I was where they did make exceptions in certain situations. You just have to find out as much as you can and have documentation to prove it to even  get accepted initially. I can tell you I was very border-line to their exclusions with having cirrhosis, high ALT and low platelets as well as a very long commute. Bottom line was I had to pass a very strenuous 4 hour screening the week before I started treatment. I was concerned about my blood sugars too  as they seem to get high at times. I just ate a healthy brkfst. drank a lot of water before the screening and kept my fingers crossed. They also did a ECG heart rhythm test which I had never had before as the typical heart test is EKG. The ECG results seemed to be the most important test in determining final approval to start tx. I think I was overall very borderline to getting approved. Just know your stuff and keep after them.

Would it be possible to ask for another blood glucose level and can you take your methadone after the test? Many patients with insulin resistance or type 2 diabetes have it because of their HCV. It seems to go hand in hand. I do not think you need to worry about a wait for other drugs or another chance regarding getting liver cancer (HCC). Liver cancer affects those with cirrhosis and the risk is 1-4% per year. So waiting a year is not going to harm you. And waiting for an all oral treatment rather than interferon will end up being a blessing. Interferon is a difficult drug to deal with and the duration of treatment, as well as side effects, are much more difficult. Have you looked in to a drug that is already approved and skip the trial? If you are underinsured or have no insurance you might qualify for financial help and won't need a trial at all. Best of luck to you.

Welcome to the forum.   Many people have had hepatitis C for 20 plus years.
Hepatitis C is a slow moving deasease.  What is important is the current condition of your liver.  Have you had a biopsy?

Sugar in your blood can be as simple as you eat to much sugar.  So taking medication with sugar syrup is one way sugar would get in your blood.

I'm sorry you were dropped from the trial.  There are other options besides trials and you should get yourself a plan to get treated.  There is also financial assistance avalible.   Here is a website that offers a plan "HepC.com.

Again, Welcome to the forum.
