GT Update

Just wanted to let you know that my first wait is finally over and that the news are good. My doctor called me yesterday to tell me that I have genotype 3. Yippee! And he has sent on my file to the hepatitis department of the main hospital in Denmark. So I should hear from them in a few weeks to get my appointment and do the biopsy and discuss treatment. That could be in another 2 months... Anyway.... The boat is rolling... So far so good.

Lets hurry up and wait.....  :-)    and speculate ....

All you beautiful people, thank you for all the encouraging words from everyone.

Marcia

Glad to hear your news about geno Marcia! I remember I cried in the doctors' office when I heard I was geno 3. So much easier to look forward to 24 weeks, compared to 48. I see comeagain referring to your being light. I don't know how much it helps, but in my case it meant that my dosing became higher than many others. I'm sure that helped me to have RVR. (I was 49 kg when I started treatment, but got the dose for 51-64 kg, I'm on Pegintron 1.5 ug/kg and Rebetol 800 mg)

Now let's hope your biopsy will be fine too! Don't panic if it isn't that good, I did RVR even with stage 3 fibrosis.

Best wishes

better than the GT 1's; i am GT3a; the 3's are very common in europe; it's also not necssarily a transfusion virus; many 3's are needlesticks, which is good my GI says; you have about a 75% chance to clear it on your first treatment; we find out though that the 3's can also be tricky; me, i was originally on 24weeks int/riba tx am extending to 48 weeks at the moment, which i wasn't even imagining at the start of treatment; listen what your GI says; for the 3's you want a good one who treats you for your individual situation rather than standart protocol; you will be done with this bug in probably less than a year; for that, be grateful; good luck......

Thanks. I could have been running around with this dragon since the late seventies or early 80ies through to the early 90ies, so I hope the biopsy will be fine.

God bless,
Marcia

Glad to hear your good news, geno 3 shorter tx.  Good for you, since you were newly diagnosed your biopsy has a good chance of being minimal as well.  God Bless
